RE: valve stem extenders

You could install a braided type valve extender. But, I think you will find that those that install extenders use a solid type. You can view/pruchase these Tire Man products at www.ridgecrest.ca.us/~tire-man/products.html. I believe there is also another site with similar products, just don't have it on hand. Maybe a poster will be able to type a good click&go link for tire man. Although they are not self install, the product will make it easy to view/check tire pressure. Rubber/braided stems really are not for tires which carry the pressures that motorhomes due. I don't why they come that way....

RE: Long Vacation

In reply to Roy & Lynne. We did take a lot of pictures. DW was in charge of that department. Have some really good shots of everywhere we went. Then there are the ones of the out of focus dog's head, a bit of dashboard and the infamous radio antenna and outside mirror. Nothing like trying to figure out what this 60 second movie is trying to say!!

RE: interstate 40 East

Drove I-40 thru Knoxville and Nashville about a month ago. They were the worst sections I ever saw. Plently of contruction going on. The road was was filled with chuck holes that would bottom out an iron wheeled buckboard. I would recommend an alternate route until the construction is completed!

RE: Putting air in tires

In addition to the recommendations for solid valve stems, I also installed accu-pressure safety caps on the ends of the stems. You can get these to indicate exactly what pressure you have your tires inflated to. They come in indications up to 130 lbs. in increments of 5 lbs.for between 40-130 lbs. www.accu-pressure.com Just do a walk around and no guages to hook up!! Ain't it great.

Long Vacation

We just returned from a vacation that was over 3 months long. My 99 4 Winds performed flawlessly. No malfunctions on any coach or chassis systems. Of course, this was made possible by many of the forum folks who helped with suggestions during my year of coach prep prior to trip. With your help, upgrades were done which certainly worked out well. Handling wise, the new Michelin XPS tires, Bilstein shocks and the addition of the self installed Henderson SS-402 rear sway bar made so much difference it is really hard to describe except...great! Gas mileage was between 6-8 mpg depending on terrain. The old gas card was wheezing a little on the last 2000 miles with the prices the way they were. My weight a launch time was right around 15K (not towing anything). Not a bit of problems taking the mountains. Side winds and big rigs were of little or no problems. I'm happy 'bout that. It was a great trip and we enjoyed ourselves tremendously. Thanks to all that helped us get ready!. I'm itching to go again.
